OPPORTUNITY

The lack of access to credit and finance, knowledge of good agronomic practices (GAP), youth engagement in agriculture, efficient value chains, and access to markets have been identified as the major causes of the decline in the production of major food and cash crops (Rice, Maize, Beans, Tubers, vegetables and Tree Crops (Cocoa, cashew and oil palm). These have also been identified as the cause of the poverty of smallholder farmers in Nigeria and also the poor state of our agricultural economy.

This unfortunate situation provides a huge opportunity for the private sector to intervene and contribute sustainable solutions to these challenges. BioSci has successfully developed a business model that addresses these challenges, and wishes to scale up its successful innovative outgrower/offtaker scheme.
